Boudoir at the Fitzwilliam Hotel with Red River Studios

Well we had an opportunity to spend a little time with one of Red River Studios preferred models last week the beautiful Caitlin Milligan. The venue for this shoot was the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast, the suites have a wonderful view ofVictoria street and i was thinking that the late evening traffic going by would add to the photographs as the full length windows are a great bonus for a photographer when shooting this type of session ,

I first met caitlin back in November of 2011, and as i said in an older blog post she was a breath of fresh air !! and although we have only had 4 photo shoots together we are really beginning to click as we grow her portfolio over the coming months and as Caitlin Models for a number of assignments that are on the books im sure we will see her grow as a model,

One of the wonderful assets Caitlin has as  a model is the ability to change the mood of a photograph in an instant, always ready to listen to my instructions and give me the expression for the style of photograph im looking to create!!! this is something very few models can do easily and is often the downfall of most models when it comes to editorial work,

This shoot was a big step for Caitlin and I'm sure the results speak for themselves that as a model she brought the confidence needed to do such a photo shoot,
As photographers  we have an obligation to respect our models and their vulnerability, to create images that will only enhance their portfolios and not just take advantage of the many young Women out there that are subjected to unregulated and unprofessional photographers that blight this industry, Photography is an art form that in the age of digital photographs and the ease at which a person can set up and call themselves a professional photographer needs to be regulated, lets keep it right and create images that speak for themselves and show the creativity of the artist that stands behind the lens as well as  in this case the model that has agreed to allow us to photograph them!!

Rock Band shoot, Red River Studios

Well we had a change from the norm last weekend when we were ask to photograph a local rock band Black Svan for the cover of their new Album Immortal !! i must admit it was good fun, the location for the shoot was Phillipstown mill just north west of Dundalk, What a fantastic location for what we were wanting to capture !!

This was an old grain mill back at the turn of the 19th century!! but is now quiet overgrown and very run down, well the Album cover is in it's first draft  the post production is by Paul Connolly DigitalStudios and i must say a very talented guy he is !!

So a few of the Band before we really got down to things,

the Band shots were taken on sunday morning but we had shot lots of extra's on Saturday with a few young local girls who decieded to model for the shoot, Thanks to Ro Butterly, Amber MCEntegart, and Mikayla  Marrett

So the first Draft came back this morning from Paul and i must say i was pretty impressed !!! All of us here at Red River Studios are delighted we were asked to do this shoot!! you can check out more of the shot's on our FaceBook page.
