Carlingford Wedding,Co.Louth ,By Red River Studios
It was a cold Raw February afternoon in Carlingford on Sunday last when i met Amanda and Rob to chat about their wedding plans for next weekend in the Four Seasons Hotel ,here in Carlingford. As i remarked to Amanda about the cold she politely responded that it was not cold at all you should live in Glasgow !!!, well i know how cold Scotland can be in winter !! so of we went to see the locations for our wedding photographs on Friday all four of us yip Bunk the Scottish terrier was in tow!!!

I love the old Priory in Carlingford as a backdrop for photographs!!! most people locally call it the "Abbey"
Over 200 years old from the fransiscan brothers i recall serving as an Alter boy at the bicentenary in 1979 !!
well a few images from our walk around the sights has given this wonderful couple some ideas for thier wedding of friday
Red River Studios will be there on hand to capture the memories and in the process create some wonderful images for Rob Amanda and of course Bunk to cherish !
The beauty of Carlingford and the surrounding countryside can be viewed on our dedicated landscape website and all of our wedding and portrait images are available to view on our main site both linked below !

Boudoir at the Fitzwilliam Hotel with Red River Studios
Well we had an opportunity to spend a little time with one of Red River Studios preferred models last week the beautiful Caitlin Milligan. The venue for this shoot was the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast, the suites have a wonderful view ofVictoria street and i was thinking that the late evening traffic going by would add to the photographs as the full length windows are a great bonus for a photographer when shooting this type of session ,
I first met caitlin back in November of 2011, and as i said in an older blog post she was a breath of fresh air !! and although we have only had 4 photo shoots together we are really beginning to click as we grow her portfolio over the coming months and as Caitlin Models for a number of assignments that are on the books im sure we will see her grow as a model,

One of the wonderful assets Caitlin has as a model is the ability to change the mood of a photograph in an instant, always ready to listen to my instructions and give me the expression for the style of photograph im looking to create!!! this is something very few models can do easily and is often the downfall of most models when it comes to editorial work,
This shoot was a big step for Caitlin and I'm sure the results speak for themselves that as a model she brought the confidence needed to do such a photo shoot,
As photographers we have an obligation to respect our models and their vulnerability, to create images that will only enhance their portfolios and not just take advantage of the many young Women out there that are subjected to unregulated and unprofessional photographers that blight this industry, Photography is an art form that in the age of digital photographs and the ease at which a person can set up and call themselves a professional photographer needs to be regulated, lets keep it right and create images that speak for themselves and show the creativity of the artist that stands behind the lens as well as in this case the model that has agreed to allow us to photograph them!!

Rock Band shoot, Red River Studios
Well we had a change from the norm last weekend when we were ask to photograph a local rock band Black Svan for the cover of their new Album Immortal !! i must admit it was good fun, the location for the shoot was Phillipstown mill just north west of Dundalk, What a fantastic location for what we were wanting to capture !!
This was an old grain mill back at the turn of the 19th century!! but is now quiet overgrown and very run down, well the Album cover is in it's first draft the post production is by Paul Connolly DigitalStudios and i must say a very talented guy he is !!
So a few of the Band before we really got down to things,
the Band shots were taken on sunday morning but we had shot lots of extra's on Saturday with a few young local girls who decieded to model for the shoot, Thanks to Ro Butterly, Amber MCEntegart, and Mikayla Marrett
So the first Draft came back this morning from Paul and i must say i was pretty impressed !!! All of us here at Red River Studios are delighted we were asked to do this shoot!! you can check out more of the shot's on our FaceBook page.

As a Photographer we see things in a different way !! always wanting to tell a story about what we see !!! as a wedding photographer nere at Red River Studios we pride ourselves on capturing your wedding day in away that you may look back and see it how it was in the many years to come !! I thought that it might be a good idea to show how a finished album might look an to dispel the ideas that you have to have a full days coverage !!! the Wedding Album pages you see here were shot in TankardsTown House near Slane in Co Meath last April !! a Beautiful day i agree but this total album was shot in just under 3 hours from start to finish !!!! Thank you to Yvonne and Euan for there time ,Fun and Spirit on the day !!!
These pages are as the album would look layed out and open in a landscape format

BEAUTY PORTRAITS BY RED RIVER STUDIOS
Well it is that time of year when the wedding season slows down and we photographers get a chance to either sit and chill or go get creative !!! i love having the time to push the bounderies in my Beauty photography!!! trying to create new photographs that have depth and soul !!! Here at RED RIVER STUDIOS we always like to keep our ideas fresh and up to date so our wedding brides can see how next years photographs might be give them ideas !! so here are a few from my shoot with Caitlin Milligan last week ,
We always start of with that simple portrait !!! good lighting in this case 3 point lighting with a large softbox to the front of Caitlin, i would have preferred a good Beauty Dish as it compliments the models skin so much better ,
A simple pose dropping the head to the side helps create a softer light less shadows !!!

As Caitlin has such a classical look i thought that a softer approach might be a better idea so we introduced a few pieces of tull fabric!! simple but like a veil it softens the face so much more although you do require your model to have very good skin as you cannot post edit any blemishes if shooting through this material !!!
And to my last two shoots the ones that i was hoping to achieve !!
The lighting is quiet harsh i was using Bowens 500 pro heads and the main light turned up quiet high to give the bleached affect on Caitlins skin!!!
This has to be one of my favorite shot's of all time !!!!
This model is fast becoming my all time favorite and i know she will be a star in the future !!! watch this space !!!
